I have recently heard back from one of my prospective clients. They went out of business, and are no longer trading. They could have been successful. I know that. The fact is that nobody knew where they were and they didn’t care. They had the old mindset of running a local business that killed it. They spent their money and resources on the wrong thing. I proposed a website and an online marketing sales funnel that would have put them on the map and got them more business. They decided to give up.

If you are thinking that you hit rock bottom and have nothing else you can try, think again. Consider taking a step back, thinking through your structure, and making a positive change. Find out more below.

1.     Change Your Mindset

You cannot run a successful business if you still have an employee mindset. It is important that you think with your business hat on at all times. You are responsible for your own future and your employees’ job. You might need to grow up to the responsibility, but never stop thinking about what can take your own local business to the next level.

2.     Create a Unique Selling Proposition

Many small and medium business owners believe that being present in the marketplace is enough, and customers will come knocking on the door. This is far from the truth. You need to give your potential customers a good enough reason why they should trust you with their business, and not another company.

3.     Take a Step Back

Sometimes when we are in the situation we cannot see our problems clearly. If you are unable to find the solution, your best bet is visiting friends in another town or country, or taking a holiday. This might not seem like a logical step when your business is struggling, but a different perspective will help you understand what you did wrong.

4.     Check Your Brand

With zero advertising you will get zero results. You must find out whether people actually know what you have to offer, or whether they are aware that you exist. You must take advantage of online marketing and social media promotions to create a brand awareness in your community. A well-designed sales funnel will help you get your branding and marketing right.

5.     Talk to an Expert
